The
Sierra Club, Harbor Vision Task Force
The Sierra Club Harbor
Vision Task Force is in the forefront on port and harbor-related
issues. It seeks ways to regreen the harbor, reduce pollution and
environmental damage caused by the shipping industry and reduce
neighborhood blight without adversely impacting the economy. It
is helping establish a route for the California Coastal Trail as
it winds its way around the harbor in its longer trek from Oregon
to Mexico. The group hopes to enhance the trail in the harbor area,
and to establish a greenbelt that complete encircles the harbor.
The Angeles
Chapter of the Sierra Club serves the Los Angeles/Long Beach
harbor area. Two additional grapes are the Long
Beach Group and the
Palos Verdes/South Bay Group.
The national Sierra
Club maintains an LNG
web site. The California-based think tank Redefining
Progress produced a report which is endorsed by the Sierra Club,
the United Steel Workers and others called Smarter,
Cleaner, Stronger which describes how renewable energy can
help our environment and produce 1.4 million new jobs nationally.

Earth
Resource Foundation
Founded
in 1999, Earth Resource Foundation (ERF) is an environmental educational
nonprofit organization developed to empower the general public with
the resources needed to make environmentally sustainable choices
and changes. Their mission is to preserve, conserve, and restore
the Earth to a healthy and sustainable state by redirecting available
human, technological, monetary and academic resources. It is their
belief that people want to act responsibly but are either unaware
of their negative impact on the environment or are hindered by barriers
that prohibit them from acting responsibly. Their programs are targeted
at three primary audiences: youth, communities and businesses with
the goal of helping each of these groups determine their environmental
issues and provide the resources to assist them in accomplishing
their goals.
